Earl's Regency

Serene hillside retreat

Enjoy the best of both worlds in this serene hillside retreat a short drive from the heart of Kandy.

Built into and incorporating a riverside rock face in the hills above Kandy, the Earl’s Regency is a spacious resort with tranquil views over the Mahaweli River. It’s an ideal spot for those looking to enjoy peace and quiet, but with plenty to do. If you want to balance the time spent sightseeing and the time making the most of your hotel, this is a perfect choice. There’s an on-site spa and a large swimming pool, while the centre of Kandy is only a short drive – or perhaps a tuk-tuk ride – away, so you can explore at your leisure.

Why we love Earl's Regency

  • The leafy setting in the hills on the edge of Kandy comes with beautiful views over the Mahaweli River

  • If you want to be able to explore the sights of the city with ease, but without staying in the middle of it, this is an ideal option

  • You’ll be tempted to linger in and around the huge curving swimming pool, which is set in a natural rock formation

  • There’s a good range of facilities, from an Ayurvedic spa and a cocktail bar to a children’s outdoor playground

Whether you're looking to enjoy Sri Lankan cuisine or international dishes, the dining options at Earl’s Regency do not disappoint.

Royal Pavilion
The main restaurant is where an extensive buffet breakfast is served. Lunch here is à la carte while at dinner you can enjoy various themed buffets from Sri Lankan to international.

Mountbatten Lounge For a more laidback atmosphere head to the lounge-with-a-view, which is open until late for snacks and hearty pub-style meals such as burgers, pizzas and steak.

The Dip ‘n’ Dive Bar Enjoy a cold drink or hot snack without straying too far from your sun lounger at the hotel’s poolside bar.

The Tapp Bar
Stop by for a pre-dinner house cocktail – with names such as Elephant’s Kiss or Arrack Blossom – or a relaxed post-dinner digestive.

The Indian chefs at Royal Pavilion conjure up superb dishes from their homeland – don’t miss authentic desserts such as kulfi and gulab jamun.
