The Standard, Huruvalhi Island

Miami meets the Indian Ocean

The Standard celebrates all that’s playful and downright cool, with hip restaurants, eye-popping interiors and watersports galore.

The Standard – casual luxury in paradise. Yes, there are glitterballs over bathtubs, DJs on the weekends and an overwater glass-floored nightclub, but there's also a kids' club and a great spa. Slink from a crystal healing or yoga session to the infinity-edged pool or back to your villa; all of them – overwater and beach – come with private plunge pools. Dining is equally enticing; coconut shell charcoal barbecues and Maldivian-style low-to-the floor tables facing the ocean.

Why we love The Standard, Huruvalhi Island

  • Grab snorkels and fins from your villa and go swimming with baby sharks

  • Daily yoga, a luxe spa and a clubby vibe make it a cool spot for groups of friends

  • Tot-to-teenager friendly with a buzzy kids’ club and a high season inflatable waterpark

  • Try the reef fish in banana leaves at authentic Maldivian restaurant Guduguda

Anywhere else, the off-beat vibe could distract you from your destination. Not at The Standard. There’s still a real sense of place here thanks to the focus on local eats; at the one-of-a-kind venue, Guduguda, you’ll be taken on a journey of Maldivian tastes as you sit on cushions around a traditional low table either inside or out in the open. Eating flavour- and spice-loaded curries with your hands to the soundtrack of the waves is one for the memory bank. If it’s the typically tropical island evening with your toes in the sand evening you’re after, then BBQ Shak post sundown is for you.

Kula
The main hub for meals is Kula, a cool and breezy hangout that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, served buffet style.

Joos Café
The poolside venue that is uber casual with many dishes cooked in the large open kitchen.

Guduguda
The Standard’s celebration of Maldivian tastes. The cuisine at Guduguda includes spiced rice, seafood and coconut milk curries.

BBQ Shak
A fun and social dinner spot where communal tables are set out on the sand and seafood and meat dishes are cooked right in front of you.

Todis Bar
Where cocktails are served alongside bar snacks in a lounge-like setting.

Beru Bar
Beru, the adult-only bar is located out above the water and has an incredible see-through dance floor.

At Guduguda, we love the fact that you sit on cushions at low tables – as is the tradition here.
