Samode Haveli: a royal abode

We offer a tour every morning so guests can see in detail the old frescoes, elaborate murals and opulent antique furniture…

General Manager at Samode Hotels

Parts of the haveli are roughly 200 years old, including the older wing where the aristocratic Samode family still run their family operations. For the most part, we’ve retained the original aesthetic, a glorious reminder of the building’s rich history. It really speaks for itself but we offer a tour every morning so guests can see in detail the old frescoes, elaborate murals and opulent antique furniture.

We’re blessed with our location within the ramparts of the old city. The hotel sits within striking distance of important monuments such as the City Palace, the Wind Palace and we’re only a 10-minute walk from the main shopping street where you can buy anything under the sun.

When in Jaipur, you’re often out all day exploring but we have a wonderful spa and beautiful outdoor swimming pool to return to. We have two restaurants serving a wide range of delicious food but the main event, I’d say, is the khad murg, a whole chicken that’s cooked for 18 hours in spices, something that we need at least 24 hours’ notice for. It’s a fantastic dish perhaps to savour with a private candlelit dinner in one of our courtyards.

We don’t get to interact with guests much during the day, so we invented cocktail hour on the 4th floor rooftop that overlooks Jaipur’s city canopy. All the staff who go above and beyond, from the chef to the housekeeper and the people at reception, gather here to meet the guests. Everyone just loves it and it’s especially beautiful in the evening when it’s a little cooler and you can see the kites soaring above the dusky pink hues.
